History:
The Illinois Skating Team, originally named the Illini Edge, was founded in 2001 by Natalie Magiet and Carrie Rennemann. This team represents the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There are many things that make us unique. One of the most important features of the team is the active leadership that every member must take. Each skater participates both on and off the ice, contributing ideas and time to the many facets of synchronized skating. The end result is an eager, tight-knit team that anticipates future seasons. In addition to this, the talent on our synchro team is very diverse. We have skaters who competed on Nationally and Internationally ranked teams. We also have skaters who have no synchro experience, but are gold level ice dancers, and junior and senior level freestyle and moves in the field skaters. Our talents also go beyond skating. Each of us is dedicated to our school work and participate in various other organizations on campus. We are all proud to represent our university and contribute to such a special team.
